Terms and Conditions 

A. Definitions 

SMUN is a short form of Sheffield Model United Nations
Delegates are the students who participate as a delegation of a country in a committee in the SMUN conference.
Team Organisers are the people who sign up on behalf of delegates, organise payment and are the main contact for SMUN. 
Team includes all delegates and team organisers.

B. Eligibility and Registration

  1. Sheffield Model United Nations (Henceforth SMUN) welcomes anyone from ages 13 to 18 years old from anywhere in the world. 

  2. All delegates must be a student in a registered high school and are able and consent to participate in the event. 

  3. We do not discriminate on the basis of disability. Please apply as we encourage diversity. 

  4. All committee and delegation allocations will be at the discretion of the General Secretariat and Planning Committee. 

  5. All Team Organisers must ensure that they are available throughout the entirety of SMUN both before and during the conference as they will be the source of contact from the General Secretariat to the participating team. If the Team Organiser were to renounce their duties, they must inform the General Secretariat and provide a new contact. 

  6. Registrations must be complete through the form officially posted on our website, our emails and our social media.

    3. Our official Instagram and Facebook Pages are @sheffieldprivateschool

  7. The Rules of Procedure provided by SMUN will be what SMUN operates on.

  8. The General Secretariat reserves the right to change any event details prior to the event.

C. Payment

  1. There is no associated fee for all delegates.​

D. Awards

  1. Awards are at the discretion of the chairs of SMUN and are listed on our Website​.

  2. Delegates cannot attempt to bribe chairs to receive the awards.

  3. All Monetary awards will only be paid through PayPal.

E. Privacy and Intellectual Property Rights

  1. Any data submitted by delegates and other individuals may be used by SMUN in the form of photographs and videos without limitations. This may be used for but not limited to social media, website media or commercial publications. 

  2. All data, results and materials produced in SMUN cannot be disseminated by participating delegates or team Organisers to commercial publications without the express permission of the SMUN General Secretariat or Planning Committee. All products, data, results and materials are the exclusive property of SMUN. 

  3. SMUN can change these rules on privacy without further notice.

F. Code and Conduct

  1. Team Organisers hereby certify that all data submitted in the registration process is as truthful and accurate to their knowledge. Any falsification in the application process is grounds for disqualification and/or legal actions.

  2. All participating delegates must ensure all work produced is unique and not plagiarised. Plagiarism will not be tolerated at SMUN and discovery of such acts with result in point reduction or disqualification without refund. 

  3. All participating delegates and organisers must be willing and obliged to follow the laws of Dubai, United Arab Emirates when participating in SMUN as well as the area they are located in when participating in SMUN.

  4. All participating delegates understand the possibility of risk and acknowledge that SMUN, its volunteers, organisers or other associated people do not take responsibility for the activities of participants. 

  5. Team Organisers must be committed to creating an environment that is free of harassment. We’ll be warning the harasser to immediately stop their behaviour or may disqualify them from all committees. If you are being harassed, notice someone is being harassed, or have any concerns please inform any of the General Secretary, your chairs or directly email us at support@mun.ae 

  6. Courteousness and Kindness are expected of delegates to other people within the limits of personal boundaries. SMUN will not accept any form of racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, ableism, xenophobia or any form of discrimination nor any form of sexual harassment or assault. Any delegate that participates in mentioned banned activities will be immediately removed from the conference and banned from participating in the future. 

  7. Participants agree to accept and abide by this Code of Conduct to ensure that the safety and security of the committees are maintained.
